FAQs | Atlas Map Filters Contact Attributes

What is being launched?

With the Winter ’23 release, users can filter down properties where one or more people work. Leveraging this new functionality, users can search for contacts who match particular attributes and identify the properties where those contacts work. These new filters are grouped as “Contact Attributes” and work similarly to other Map Filters: Property Attributes, Permits, Ownership, Custom Fields, etc.

As you can see from the example below, after filtering on a certain Job Function, users now see dramatically fewer properties on the map that match the users’ criteria. If that user zooms in and clicks on any of the properties shown, they can find one or more contacts that match the contract attribute they were filtering for. This functionality allows the user to filter down the properties even more before clicking on properties to find a person with their desired contact attributes. Although users still need to click ‘Show All’ contacts for the property, the desired contact will be discovered. When reviewing all contacts at a property, users can also filter by ‘Job Title’ in the property’s contact directory to search more quickly.

How does this feature support the Commercial Services Platform for Revenue Acceleration?

Atlas empowers users to engage with decision makers who work at high-value properties. Prior to the Winter ‘23 release, finding facility decision makers and other important buying personas required a user to filter down properties based on building attributes and then the user would manually have to search contacts on each property. This process was not efficient because users would unsuccessfully click on many properties before finding a property with a desired contact. Map Filters Contact Attributes will make this core workflow more efficient.

The bigger goal for Convex is to bring the power of Contact, Property, and Company data together intelligently to make our platform a more complete Commercial Services Platform for Revenue Acceleration. This feature is the beginning of many coming innovations that combine multiple data sets to fulfill that goal and bring the most powerful tool to the fingertips of our users.

Who has access to this feature in Atlas?

Every Atlas user will have access to this feature.

What contact attributes can I use to identify properties?

Users can filter on the following contact attributes:

  • Job Function
  • Management Level
  • Job Title
  • Industry
  • Company Name
  • Company Annual Revenue
  • Company Employee Count

Although the last 3 are more company attributes rather than contact attributes, activating these filters will only return properties on the map where we’ve found one or more contacts that work at a company on the property with these attributes.

Can I filter based on Contact Attributes and Properties Attributes together? Or do I need to choose one?

By merging these two datasets, Convex has made it possible for users to filter based on Contact and Property Attributes. Filter by Contact Attribute, Ownership Info, Custom Fields, and other filters you would like to use.

Do the numbers on the map indicate the number of contacts that I’ve found using the Map Filters with the Contact Attributes?

No, the numbers shown on the map indicate the number of properties that contain one or more contacts who match your contact attribute filter criteria. Displaying the number of properties is consistent with how the map has always functioned.

Should I stop using People Search now that I can find Properties by Contact Attributes?

No, People Search and Map Filter Contact Attributes are both important depending on your goal. If you are only searching for people or want to search by specific attributes like “Name”, then People Search may be more helpful for your needs. On the other hand, if you are searching for properties with a specific kind of decision maker onsite, then Map Filters Contact Attributes may be more helpful. If you are having difficulty achieving your goal, we encourage you to reach out to your Convex representative.

Known Limitations?

If you are in our Early Access Program for Unified Map View, when you are zoomed out the estimates on the number of properties on the map may be inaccurate depending on your filter criteria.
